The best way to pair wine and food

I heard the best explanation EVER on how to successfully pair wine with food on the Create channel recently. When pairing food and wine, we use either complementary or contrasting flavors. When using complementary flavors, a white wine would be paired with fish or chicken because both are lighter in texture and flavor. They're complementary. Beef and other red meats, which are bolder and heavier, would go with red wine as red wine is bolder and heavier. When pairing wine and food using contrasting flavors, the focus is on the sauce or seasoning of the dish. Pairing using contrasting flavors can be more challenging, more rewarding and more fun! I think I'm going to cook something special tonight – something with a sauce!

I have everything I need right now!

On the Dr. Oz show recently, Anthony Robbins offered an amazing and easy tip for de-stressing and giving yourself a positive attitude each and every day. Every morning when you wake, move for five minutes. Jog in place. Dance. March. Flail your arms. The important thing is to keep moving. As you move, repeat the following words out loud over and over again for all of the five minutes: “I have everything I need right now.” Not only does it get your metabolism moving and your blood flowing, but the words connect you with thankfulness. As Mr. Robbins says, it's important to live in thankfulness. He says, it's important to do the physical movement and the speech at the same time because doing both together significantly improves the power behind the exercise. It's easy. It's fun. It's invigorating. And you should start seeing positive changes in your life in no time!

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

Walking your dog is good for your health

Walking your dog lowers blood pressure, you're getting exercise, you help maintain or lose weight, and it's a great bonding experience with your pet. I walk Lulu, Mr. Big and Toto2 three times a day (okay, I don't have much of a social life – but I'm happy!). I highly recommend it!

Wise words from Ella Fitzgerald

Just don't give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong.

It's all about love

"Love cures people - both the ones who give it and the ones who receive it." - Dr. Karl Menninger

- Eleanor Roosevelt

"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, "I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." "You must do the thing you think you cannot do."
